A BABY! Tears weld up in my eyes as he told me the news and as I heard the excitement, love and anticipation in his voice. My first baby, is having his first baby!! And what a beautiful baby it will be!! He and Alicia are such a cute couple. (Does that sound a little prejudice? Guilty!)
What? When I was growing up there wasn't any other name for Grandparents besides, Grandma & Grandpa. As I got older we sometimes jokingly called Grandma & Grandpa Jouett, Gramps & Granny, but it just didn't sound right. When my sons were born, my mother went with the natural Grandma name, but the boys other grandmother didn't want to be referred to as a grandma. She wanted a different name. Meme or Mimi as some others have.
My sister Kathy has a beautiful granddaughter named Stella. Stella calls Kathy, Gam ma. So cute. I have seen or heard, the Mimi above, Nana, Granny, etc. What other names are out there? What would I want to be called? (I just want to be called for dinner! Ha! Couldn't resist!)
I have so many things I want to do to prepare for the baby's arrival. Thanks to my dear friend Leean, I have acquired some baby items to have here at "?" house. Also thanks to my niece Roxy and nephew Jack, I will be acquiring more items. I have begun baby proofing the house. I have had many long talks with our dog Maggie, to let her know I will not tolerate any bad, jealous behavior from her when the baby comes to "?" house. I am beginning to seriously change my eating habits and will be getting in shape. I will dance at this child's wedding!! I have begun a journal of stories of our family, of God and life lessons I have learned along my journey that I want this child to know.
But what will I be? A Grandma, Grandmother, Nana, Gam ma, Mam ma,(sounds like a yearly visit to be squeezed and smashed.), (meme is out-never liked it), or what? Any suggestions?
For now, I am just a very excited, thrilled, filled with hope, anticipation and love, mom. Praying that all will go well and for God's protection to be over Alicia, Andy and this wonderful baby to be.
WOO HOO!
