Today is January 1, 2010.  It is very common for most people to reflect on the year that has just been ushered out and set resolutions or goals for the fresh new year that has just begun.  In this reflection of the past year we might be satisfied with the accomplishments we have made or disappointed in not quite reaching them.  We could really be happy for the strides we have made in any areas of our life or sad that we are not where we thought we should be.  We tend to look at the first day of the year as a fresh start; a do over; a time to get it right this time. It has been said that by the second week of January most of the resolutions that were made have been broken.  This is usually followed by despair of this failure and a heavy sigh of "Oh well, maybe next year." The goals and/or resolutions are chalked away only to be dusted off and tried for again the following New Year's Day.  I know, I've been there, done that.

How about we look at this fresh new year in a different way?  Instead of making resolutions or goals let us ask ourselves some questions.  Let us honestly answer the questions below and then set a course of action to get ourselves to the answer.  It doesn't have to be done in one quick sweep, we take steps, intentional steps, to reach our answer.  We bathe the questions with prayer and ask God to direct our steps as we begin our path to wards the answer.  We trust God to show us the way to our answers. We put our faith into action even if we can't see how we will get to our answers, but we believe we will.  Remember, we will have periods of failure.  That doesn't mean we stop.  We learn from our failure, and we get back at it.  We keep going.  In reality, every new day, is an opportunity to start over and do things in a manner pleasing to God. You don't have to wait until the next New Year's Day.

Check out the questions below.  You might want to use all of them, some of them, or these questions might bring to mind other questions that is relevant to your life.  Whatever the case may be, get busy.  Begin this decade in a different way.  Strive to make the answers to these questions come to past.
